1999 - Revisit one of the best Gay festivals in Asia.
first Gay Festival and Parade was staged in 1999 and was an
instant crowd pleaser for tourist and native alike –
Gay and straight. The first festival was 20-21September 1999.
In 1999 there were still big trees in Paradise Complex and on the beach road. In Paradise you could see the hilly mountains and there was a nice breze from the hills down to the beach.
The event was something totally new and unheard of in Patong. The parade went from Paradise Complex down to Beach road and back in Paradise Complex. There was a stage with performances beside the police box on the beach, close to Bangla rd. The crowd along the streets was probably the biggest. See for yourself in this historical 1999 gallery
Resent years of Pride in Phuket.
